| The report to the 20 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China emphasizes the need to “strengthen the education of ideals and convictions,guide the whole party to remember the party’s purpose,and consciously become firm believers and faithful practitioners of the lofty ideals of communism and the common ideals of socialism with Chinese characteristics.” This fully affirms the significant role of education of ideals and convictions in “enhancing the spiritual strength of realizing the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.” Currently,China is in a critical period of advancing towards the second centenary goal.To continuously move forward in the journey of comprehensively building a great modern socialist country amidst complex situations and huge challenges,it is necessary to establish a firm foundation of ideals and convictions through communist ideals education.Marx and Engels,as the pioneers and practitioners of communist ideals education,on the basis of criticizing and inheriting the outstanding thoughts of their predecessors,used historical materialism as their worldview and methodology,and delved deeply into the communist revolution movement of the working class.They gradually formed the communist ideals education thought,which aimed to eliminate the defects of the bourgeoisie ideology,awaken the proletarian class consciousness,and take the freedom and comprehensive development of people as the ultimate goal.Today,studying the communist ideals education thought of Marx and Engels and accurately grasping its entirety is conducive to strengthening communist ideal beliefs,and thereby,gathering tremendous strength in realizing Chinese path to modernization.The paper is divided into three parts following the analytical framework of“generating conditions-core content-contemporary inspiration.” Firstly,starting from the intellectual origins and theoretical foundations of Marx and Engels’ communist ideals education thought,the historical background of the emergence of this thought is clarified.Secondly,based on the classic works of Marx and Engels,the formation and development of communist ideals education thought are studied and summarized in three stages.The necessity,subject-object,content,and methods of Marx and Engels’ communist ideals education thought are highlighted.Lastly,by combining Marx and Engels’ communist ideals education thought with the contemporary needs to strengthen communist ideals education thought,the paper explores the contemporary inspiration of Marx and Engels’ communist ideals education thought.The first part mainly analyzes the generation of the communist ideals education thought of Marx and Engels.Based on the clarification of relevant concepts,the basic connotation of the communist ideal education thought of Marx and Engels is defined.It examines the absorption and reference of excellent civilizational achievements by Marx and Engels from the predecessors,especially the social ideal education thoughts in ancient Greece,German classical philosophy,and the ideal education thoughts of utopian socialism in England and France,which became the ideological sources of the communist ideal education thought of Marx and Engels.The discovery of the materialist conception of history and the theory of surplus value provided a necessary theoretical foundation for the communist ideal education thought of Marx and Engels.At the same time,the historical background of the generation of the communist ideal education thought of Marx and Engels was examined based on the demands of the times.According to the classic texts and the development context of Marx and Engels’ thoughts,the communist ideal education thought of Marx and Engels was divided into the budding stage,the formation stage,and the deepening stage,and the vertical development context of this thought was combed to explore its historical logic.The second part mainly discusses the ideas of Marx and Engels regarding the necessity,subject-object relationship,content,and methods of communist ideals education.Chapter 3 summarizes Marx and Engels’ view on the necessity of communist ideal education,which is to help the proletariat develop communist consciousness,guide the proletarian revolutionary movement,and ultimately achieve everyone’s free and comprehensive development.The chapter also identifies the subjects and objects of communist ideal education as the proletarian party,workers’ education associations,and proletarian theorists as the former,and the proletariat,peasant class,and younger generation as the latter,drawing on Marx and Engels’ relevant works.Part Three elaborates on the contemporary inspiration of Marxist and Engels’ communist ideals education thoughts.This section is based on the practical requirement proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping to “unify the great ideal of communism with the common ideal of socialism with Chinese characteristics,and with what we are doing.”It elaborates on the contemporary inspiration of Marx and Engels’ communist ideals education thoughts from four aspects: adhering to the ideological guidance of the Party on communist ideals education,keeping up with the times in terms of the content of communist ideals education,promoting innovative development in the methods of communist ideals education,and being alert to the harm of erroneous ideologies on communist ideals education.The aim is to provide useful enlightenment for strengthening the education of communist ideal beliefs in the new era. |
