| In the middle of the Qing Dynasty,convenient traffic conditions and economic environment were gradually formed in Yangzhou area.Under the ideological and artistic background of seeking change,a group of painters who showed unique features in their paintings rose in Yangzhou painting circle.Because of their obvious personality characteristics and specific aesthetic implications,this group of painters was called "Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou".Huang Shen occupies a place in it because of his unique painting style of "The Weirdness of Twists and Turns".In the light of indepth interpretation of Huang Shen’s paintings,this paper focuses on the exploration of Huang Shen’s painting language creation and its artistic origin,and demonstrates the "weirdness" of his painting language through in-depth interpretation of specific paintings.Huang Shen has his own personality characteristics,aesthetic orientation and cultural accomplishment,has profound painting skills,and has developed a unique artistic temperament of "Ying Piao"(1).On this basis,he innovatively constructed a personalized painting language,and presented a new brush and ink form of "shadow-wood-quality & dipper-shape" in his works.The creation of this "weird" image endows the works with the aesthetic characteristics of "Ying Piao",which has become an inherent selfconsciousness.In the process of observing,analyzing and speculating on natural images,Huang Shen has gained the understanding and comprehension of their shape,structure,temperament and other aspects,which is very in line with the theoretical understanding of "taking the ancients as teachers at the beginning and then taking the creation as teachers" in painting theory.The extraordinary "Ying Piao" produced by natural creation not only became the object of his knowledge,but also the "creation" he regarded as his teacher,from which he gained a kind of insight about technical brushwork,and at the same time,he also developed a deeper aesthetic connotation.It can be said that Huang Shen’s painting language is not only unique and personalized,but also in line with the universal law of painting language creation,which effectively achieves the abnormal harmony,activates the development of the principle and law of pen and line generation,and plays an important role in promoting the inheritance and development of Chinese painting brush and ink language.This paper makes a modern analysis of the characteristics of Huang Shen’s painting language,traces the origin of his painting language,compares his artistic construction horizontally and vertically,and recognizes his influence and value connotation,which will be of great benefit to the sustainable and sound development of Chinese painting art today. |
