"Deconstruction and reconstruction" is the core element in the pedigree of post-structuralist theory,and also constitutes the main clue in the process of artistic practice and concept change of western collage art,which reflects the profound correspondence between western collage art and post-structuralist theory.The purpose of this thesis is to refine the perspective and method of interpreting western contemporary collage art through historical combing of the evolution of western collage art from the visual threshold of post-structuralist theory,with "deconstruction and reconstruction" as the core,systematically summarize the diversification,openness,dynamics and other characteristics of western contemporary collage art on the basis of case analysis,and on this basis provide referential ideological resources for future collage art creation and art education.The main text includes an introduction section and five chapters.In the introduction section,by reviewing the entire research on western collage art and combining with the current research status,the research ideas,innovative points,and significance of this article are elaborated.Several core issues in the theme of this article,such as the visual threshold of post-structuralist theory,collage art,and the time node of western contemporary collage art,are sorted and defined,laying the foundation for writing this article.The first chapter belongs to the foundational work,which analyzes the different characteristics presented by the historical evolution of western modern and contemporary collage art through comparative methods,in order to demonstrate the connection and differences between western modern and contemporary collage art,and then extract the basic perspective of analyzing western contemporary collage art in the following text.Through a historical review,it can be seen that collage media,collage technology,and collage thinking are important factors that constitute the evolution and transformation of western collage art from modern to contemporary.Therefore,in the following discussion,the above three will be used as clues to penetrate into the analysis of the dimensions of form reconstruction,subject reconstruction,meaning generation,and value extension of western contemporary collage art,and to diversify western contemporary collage art dynamization and other characteristics are more clearly displayed.The second,third,fourth,and fifth chapters are the focus of this article’s research.Among them,the second chapter is the foundation for in-depth discussion of other issues in western contemporary collage art.It attempts to analyze the diversified presentation of media form,spatial form,and color form in contemporary western collage art from the perspective of visual perception,in order to intuitively demonstrate the diversified and complex characteristics of western contemporary collage art forms.The diversity and complexity of this art form deconstructs the principle that the media,space and color serve the overall structural relationship of the works held by western modern collage art,and corroborates the concept of pluralism,dynamics and openness in the post-structuralist theory in the process of continuous differentiation of media form,space form and color form.On the basis of understanding the diversity and complexity of western contemporary collage art,chapters 3 and 4 delve into the research on the dynamic subject reconstruction problem between humans and western contemporary collage art,as well as the generation of meaning in western contemporary collage art.This provides a deeper understanding of the characteristics of diversity and dynamism in western contemporary collage art.Chapter 3 focuses on the issue of subject reconstruction in western contemporary collage art activities.The creators or viewers of western contemporary collage art are no longer like the era of modern collage art,Most of them act as absolute subjects to observe collage art works in a static and object like manner.The single subject status of humans is deconstructed by collage media,multiple spaces,and even the work itself.Thus,the relationship between the author,the work,the viewer,and the space has been reconstructed.The subjects in the artistic activities of western contemporary collage art present a diversified and dynamic appearance,and the subject and object,the mutual subject,and the dynamic subject together constitute the complex subject presentation in western contemporary collage art.Chapter 4 focuses on the generation of meaning in western contemporary collage art.The diverse artistic forms provide a broader and deeper space for interpretation of western contemporary collage art,forming an extension and deconstruction of the interpretation perspective of modern collage art.Based on this,this article selects three perspectives: artistic element symbols,internal and external context of the work,and different interpreters to interpret the meaning of western contemporary collage art,in order to demonstrate the diverse characteristics of the interpretation of western contemporary collage art.At the same time,it can also reflect the dynamic generative nature of the meaning of the work,or rather,the extension of the meaning.Chapter 5 is a deepening reflection on the research results of the previous four chapters,aiming to summarize the many values formed by western contemporary collage art in the continuous process of deconstruction and reconstruction.In the practice of western contemporary collage art,artists are constantly innovating the categories,technologies,and methods of collage media applications,causing western contemporary collage art to constantly break through its own boundaries,and the forms of collage art are becoming more diverse and dynamic.This means that artists’ application of collage media has always been in a state of liberalization,which reflects the value of the free application of collage media.western contemporary collage art has created complex and diverse relationships between viewers and their works,allowing viewers to gain a more diverse perception and experience,which also generates diverse aesthetic values.The cycle of deconstruction and reconstruction has kept western contemporary collage art alive for a long time.This way of thinking and practical principles of deconstruction and reconstruction have outstanding innovative value.In the research of western contemporary collage art,this thesis emphasizes the core idea of deconstruction and reconstruction in post-structuralist theory throughout,aiming to transform the past partial,case based,static research mode into an open,diversified and dynamic research mode,and at the same time,it also reflects the basic mode of transformation and evolution of collage media,collage thinking and collage technology in western contemporary collage art.The study of western contemporary collage art from the visual threshold of post-structuralist theory is an active exploration and effective application of research methods,and an effective interpretation of the diverse,dynamic,and open characteristics of western contemporary collage art.It can inspire more domestic and foreign collage art practitioners to achieve more innovation in future collage practices,thereby expanding the boundaries of collage art.
