A Study On The Construction Of Female Identity In The Novels Of The New Century

With the change of times,people’s cognition of identity and gender is also changing constantly.After intensive discussion and construction in the 20 th century,gender has been separated from the simple biological concept category,and in the construction and expression of gender is classified into the cultural category for consideration,which also evolved another important issue,namely the construction of subject identity.Since the new century,women’s gender imagination and identity construction have once again become the focus of discourse contention,and also become an important content in literary creation.The female identity presented in the literature of the new century is not only related to the female self-identity,but also related to the female subject identity in the historical discourse,cultural expression and ethical construction and other dimensions,and the continuous interaction between the documentary and fiction,literature and reality,generating influence.Since the new century,the creation of the novel is quite prosperous and presents a variety of female images and female problems.In the expression of different themes,female identity has gradually become the focus of a variety of discourse,value and even power contention.Therefore,the research on the construction of female identity in novels in the new century is not only an analysis and evaluation of current literary creation,but also an analysis and presentation of gender power relations and gender expression discourse in the current cultural context.Although the logical point of this paper starts from the creation of novel in the new century,its significance always points to the construction and thinking of female identity in cultural and social level.This paper is composed of three parts: introduction,main text and conclusion.It mainly uses the critical methods of close reading,comparative study and cultural study.On the basis of defining the research object and explaining the research background,this paper firstly demonstrates the rationality and value of the topic selection.To explore the different content and specific problems of female identity presented by different themes.In different living and cultural Spaces,gender imagination and identity construction for women obviously have different standards.On the one hand,external requirements inevitably affect women’s thinking about their own identity and gender;On the other hand,women’s internal needs and ideas also become agitated and contradictory.Therefore,after paying attention to women’s identity construction in different Spaces in the new century context,this paper will further think from literature to culture,exploring women’s own cognition and imagination of gender and identity.By breaking the existing gender imagination and writing the real living state and spiritual pain of women,the novel of the new century presents the difficult growth and realistic predicament of women,and also makes the construction of women’s identity always a multidimensional and open problem.
