With the rapid development of China’s railway transportation equipment,the requirements for high-speed and heavy-load railway freight transport is getting higher and higher.In order to meet the market demand,in recent years,the former CNR Dalian Locomotive & rolling stock Co.,Ltd.and EMD company of the United States jointly produced 6000 HP HXN3 diesel locomotive.The locomotive adopts the world’s most advanced 16V265 H low emission four stroke diesel engine.With many years of technical accumulation and precipitation by Chinese experts,the production of the diesel engine was nationalize.The high power locomotive diesel engine by innovative using biodiesel is a cutting-edge technique to deal with energy shortages and increasingly stringent emissions regulations as well as improve the emission、economy and power performance of locomotive diesel engine.In this paper,the working process of 16V265 H diesel engine fueled with different biodiesel ratios was simulated and its performance was analyzed by using two miller cycle technologies.The optimization of valve timing of 16V265 H diesel engine fueled with different biodiesel ratios under different load conditions was studied based on Optimizer model.The main research work of this thesis as follows:Firstly,the paper describes the working process theory of diesel engine and the theoretical basis of this method.The 16V265 H diesel engine fueled with the type of biodiesel was determined.On this basis,the physical and chemical characteristics of different biodiesel ratios(B10,B20,B50,B100)were analyzed by experimental equipment,and the detailed physical and chemical characteristics data of different biodiesel ratios were obtained,which made the preparation for the secondary exploration of biodiesel fuel with different ratios.The basic performance bench test of 16V265 H diesel engine fueled with different ratios of biodiesel was completed,and the test data provided the reliability verification of simulation model for the optimization analysis of the diesel engine.Secondly,the GT-Power software was taken as the simulation platform to carry out the secondary exploration modeling for the biodiesel fuel library,the thermodynamic parameters and physical and chemical characteristic values of biodiesel with different ratios(B10,B20,B50,B100)were imported into the simulation software to form the biodiesel fuel database with different ratios.The simulation model of 16V265 H diesel engine was established by GT-Power.The simulation results were compared with the bench test results.The simulation model was reliable and could be further used for the optimization calculation of the diesel engine.Thirdly,the performance values generated by two Miller cycle methods(variable CAM profile Miller cycle and variable valve overlap Miller cycle)for 16V265 H diesel engine burning pure diesel(B0)under specific working conditions are analyzed.On this basis,the effects of different biodiesel ratios(B10,B20,B50,B100)on the performance of 16V265 H diesel engine were studied,and the best miller cycle scheme of different biodiesel ratios under different load conditions was put forward.Finally,based on the conclusion that the two miller cycle methods to 16V265 H diesel engine fueled with different biodiesel ratios under different load conditions are applied,using the coupling simulation of Simulink software and GT-Power software,the multi-objective optimization of intake and exhaust valve timing of 16V265 H diesel engine are carried out with maximum power,maximum torque,optimal fuel consumption and minimum emission as target values.Based on the model optimization,the fuel consumption and power performance were compared,and the optimal valve timing plan for the diesel engine fueled with different biodiesel ratios under different working conditions was obtained.Through this research work,the power performance,economy and emission performance of 16V265 H diesel engine fueled with different biodiesel ratios under different load conditions were systematically studied and analyzed.It is known that the application of miller cycle technology can effectively improve the performance of high-power locomotive diesel engine,which could provide valuable experience for domestic diesel locomotive peers.As the research object of 16V265 H diesel engine,the research on the performance of high-power locomotive diesel engine by using biodiesel as alternative fuel has profound significance.
