The theory and methods of seismic reservoir characterization and the relationship between seismic waveform and hydrocarbon reservoirs are mainly discussed in this dissertation.The emphasis of the research is the approach and application of hydrocarbon reservoir characterization based on the seismic waveform characteristics,which benefits the improvement of current methodologies of seismic reservoir characterization,especially to use the seismic waveform characteristics which is one of basic expressions of seismic signals for hydrocarbon reservoirs characterization.Some research progresses and innovative results have been archived in this study.1)The theory and methods related to using seismic waveform to describe the oil and gas reservoirs are implemented by researching and summarising the relationship between seismic waveform characteristics and the reservoir characteristics.The main achivments are the clarifying the concepts,coditions and mechanism of reservoir characterization based on seismic waveform characteristics,and the approach is proposed.2)The new approach of seismic waveform characteristis analysis is proposed mainly based on the seismic waveform shape.And the proposed approach is the multi parameter describing method of using the seismic waveform charactization which takes account the comprenhensive changes of the amplitude,phase and frenquency,etc.The approach can get better results in reservoir characterization compared to the classic method which only uses the single amplitude spots or other single seismic attribute analysis methods.h3)Some of new geometry and physical parameters to emphasize the seismic waveform characteristics and seismic waveform data base have been proposed and setup based on the therotic and real seismic data to benifite the the qualitative to quantity seismic waveform analysis.The condition,and suitable range of applying the proposed approach have been analysized,so some related approaches have been implemented.4)The rock physical and numburical modelling have been carried out and the some basic characteristics of seismic waveform in the hydrocarbon reservoirs in the study area have been concluded with the help of real seismic data.The workflow of applying the approaches has been summrised,some controlling facters and solving methods have also proposed.5)The proposed approache has been applied to the HTHP gas reservoir characterization including pre-drilling and post drilling in Huangliu Formation in DF13 and LS13-2 areas inYinqiong Basin,South China Sea.The results have proved the approach mainly based on seismic waveform characterization are better than current approaches mainly based on the seismic amplitude in the study area,especially in prediction resolution for complex hydrocarbon reservoirs.The achivments have support the oil and gas exploration in the study area.
