A Multi-angle Study On The Folklegend Of The Maonan In Huanjiang

Maonan is one of the 28 ethnic groups with a small population in China.According to the data of the sixth national census in 2010,there are about 100000 Maonan people in China,including more than 60000 people living in Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County.Huanjiang Maonan Autonomous County is the only autonomous county of Maonan in China.The "Sannan" area located in the southwest of the county is the birthplace and main settlement area of Maonan in Guangxi.The Maonan formed relatively late,and its cultural development was relatively lagging behind.It has its own language but not its own script.Folk literature occupies a major position in Maonan ethnic culture.Folklegend is an important part of Maonan folk literature and Maonan ethnic culture.Maonan folklegend is the concentrated reflection of Maonan’s historical development,production and life practice and spiritual world,and has important cultural connotation and social value.Maonan folklegend has multi-disciplinary values such as literature,history,geography,folklore,ethnology and ethics.It is of great theoretical and practical significance to perspective and explore the cultural connotation and social value of Maonan folklore from a multi-disciplinary perspective.The Maonan folklegend has rich themes and diverse plot types,which can be summarized into 3 categories,12 subcategories,and 66 plot types.Many of the themes and types are common or shared in Chinese folk literature.Maonan folklegend has distinctive local characteristics and ethnic color.One part of Maonan folklegend explains the scenery and customs in Maonan area;the other part of Maonan folklegend is the Han and Zhuang folklegends spread to Maonan area,which is connected with the local scenery,customs,etc.and completed the local transformation,reflecting the characteristics of multi-cultural integration.The oral literary characteristics of Maonan folk legends are mainly in the following aspects: Maonan folklegend uses common themes and types of folk literature;Maonan folklegend often intersperses folk songs in the process of narrating the plot;the Maonan folklegend uses the common three-stage structure;the stylized characteristics of Maonan folklegend determined by genre form.Since the founding of the People’s Republic of China,Maonan folklegend has been collected and sorted out,and a series of publications has been compiled and published.In recent years,Maonan folklore has been used in urban cultural construction and cultural tourism development with the help of ceremony performance,school education,venue display and modern media platform.
