The Action Logic Of The Revival Of Confucianism

Under the current social trend of "traditional return" and the national policy of promoting excellent traditional culture,the traditional cultural renaissance and its construction of Confucianism have become social action and cultural landscapes with the characteristics of contemporary Chinese culture.This is mainly reflected in the differences and debates in the ideological and cultural level,the pluralistic subjects in social practice and their different practical orientations,as well as the "institutional anxiety" and "sacred crisis" in the revival of Confucianism.The above characteristics are intertwined and closely related,forming a sociological problem of Confucianism.The social actions of Confucianism's revival include a set of formation mechanisms such as concept cognition,ritual expression,social action,institutional arrangement,and sacred construction.The important challenges facing Confucianism construction are the coexistence and change of Confucianism construction methods and the participation of multiple actors.These participants constitute the "ritual actor" of Confucianism construction,and through their respective Confucian construction methods and their "ritualized actions",they constitute the different action logic of Confucianism and the corresponding sacred generation mechanism.This paper conducts research on the construction of Confucianism carried out in the local area through a field survey conducted in Shandong “Lucheng”.Local governments,social organizations,and commercial organizations together constitute the main actors in the revival of Confucianism,and carry out their Confucian construction actions from different paths of action.Although local people do not directly participate in the construction of Confucianism,they are also related to the rise and fall of Confucianism.Through the presentation,combing and comparison of empirical materials,the action logic of the local Confucianism renaissance and the sacred social formation mechanism are discussed.From the perspective of research,this paper uses the structural theory to select the framework of “structure-action” and regards Confucianism as a field and even a,system of action.The main response of the article is: the logic of action in the revival of Confucianism(how the ritual actors perform the revival of Confucianism),the interactive characteristics of structure and action(how the institutional structure affects the revival of Confucianism),and the structure of opportunity in the construction of Confucianism(who can qualify for the revival of Confucianism).Generally speaking,the local government carries out its Confucianism construction with administrative instructions,and regards it as a kind of periodic and performanceoriented ritual mode.It has the general characteristics of sports governance,and its sacred generation mechanism lies in the re-politicization of Confucianism.The social organization carries out its Confucianism construction with the Chinese social work service,and regards it as a shared platform for community public activities.Its sacred generation mechanism is to construct the "Chinese-style environmental protection concept" based on Confucianism as the public value recognized by the community members.Concept.The commercial structure carries out the Confucianism construction with the Confucian tradition education,and regards it as the means of realization of the returning tradition.Its main feature is "fairness and elegance".The sacredness generation mechanism lies in the sacred value of Confucian classics as "tradition",and its The self-sacredness of Confucian ritual actors.In the re-construction of sacredness,sacredness does not necessarily come from the giving of outside ritual actions.The current ritual actions may not all constitute sacredness.The different logics of Confucianism's revival have implicitly corresponding sacred mechanisms in their respective social structures and their networks: the state administrative movements constitute sacredness through state power,and social organization services generate sacredness through community publicity.Confucian classic education constructs sacredness by establishing moral models and constructing self-sanctification.In summary,the logic of action and the re-construction of sacredness of Confucianism can be transformed into a discussion of the social action of Confucianism and the integration of existing social institutional arrangements and their structural relationships.This is the sociological issue of the socialization of Confucianism.Therefore,the construction of Confucianism and its traditional culture depends not only on its own modern transformation,but also on the embedded mechanism of the existing social institutional structure and the challenge of the “overall sacred pattern”.
