Epigraphy is a kind of archaeology existed in ancient Chinese traditional cultural history,which mainly makes the ancient copper and inscription as the research object,especially on the letters carved on that or on the rubbing.In a broad sensse,it has also contained letters or signs on the bamboos,animal oracle bones,jades,bricks,sealing clay,commander’s seal or tally and some open weapons.Kinds of documents with different cariers could be called "Yenisei Turkic documents".If we gIve a definition to Yenisei Turkic documents according to the source of Yenisei River,it could be devided into wide sense and narrow sense,the former makes Selenga River in mogolia as the origin,crossing Lake Baikal,the Angara River and to Yenisey Bay,finally flow back to Kara Sea.The latter means these being or discovered in Yenisey River in Russia,or in between Yenisey River and Kara Sea.This paper mainly points to the latter.There were a large amount of inscriptional Turkic documents discovered in Yenisei.Up to now,around 180 documents of this kind have been published,unlike the documents in Orkhon River,these documents in this basin are smaller and broken badly,the largest document just has 29 lines,such as,car-carrq inscription,and the smallest one has only one letter,such as Yur-Sayur inscription.There are some present conditions and features in these inscriptional documents:I.These documents were kept not very well,most of which were broken badly and most letters on that had fallen off,which made it uneasy and impossible to decipher all the documents acutely.Ⅱ.The carrier for these documents are very abundant,most of which based on inscriptions and had a little amount of documents carved on coins,metal vessels,bronze mirrors and so on.III.Many Alphabet variants had been used,and part of which could be found only in Yenisei inscriptional documents.Ⅳ.Many documents were based on simple sentence;part of them used compound sentence.V.The text style is also very special,and many rhetorical devices had been used,which all made the text vivid and bright.VI.these documents reflected prolific comments,including killing enemies on battlefield,hunting and living and so on many scenes.In order to comprehensively study these documents conveniently and acutely with different carriers,we call this kind of document "Yenisei Epigraphic Turkic documents" in our work.Early in the second half of the 19th century,Russian scholars had inspected and studied these epigraphic Turkic documents from Yenisei basin,and most of which had been published.While in recent years,especially,Turkish scholars have made much contribution to this field,however,in our country there is much work to do in the future,which deserves of our reflection.This work based on former scholars,such as,Vasilyev,Malov,Vasinev,I.V.Kormushin,H.N.Orkun and Erhan Aydin,from the point of view of literature,will classify and decipher Yenisei Epigraphic Turkic documents according to their collection regions.This paper is composed of five chapters,sixteen sections,chapter on is exordium,which mainly includes Introduction to Yenisei Epigraphic Turkic documents,brief history of Yenisei Epigraphic Turkic documents,research scope and methods and Significance of the subject for sections.Chapter two will give a detailed introduction to the Uyuk-Turan,Barik I and so on 37 turkic inscriptions preserved in Tuva Museum,and also give counterdraw,transliteration and transcription,notes research and translation to the full texts;chapter three will give a detailed introduction to the aldyi bel,haya baj and so on 22 turkic inscriptions preserved in Yerinde,and also give counterdraw,transliteration and transcription,notes research and translation to the full texts;chapter four will give a detailed introduction to the uyuk tarlak,uyuk arjan and so on 43 turkic script documents preserved in Minusinsk Mueum carved on stone inscription,coins,bronze mirrors,metal vessels and spindles,and also give counterdraw,transliteration and transcription,notes research and translation to the full texts;chapter five will from the angle of bibliography using the method of linguistics study the usage and cultural connection of the two words adril-and ol-,the variant of Yenisei Turkic script and its writing features,Sentenses,genres and rhetoric and many problems related to this paper,and will finally show our outlooks by listing,generalizing and deep analyzing typical examples.We hope our work would be referential for scholars who are dedicated to Turkic studies and provide credible Chinese achievements for them,which will promote the progress in history,language and Philology research of Yenisei Turkic documents.
