A Study On Huayan's Poems,Paintings And Ligou Thought

Huayan's bird-and-flower paintings with fine and freehand brushwork were of a certain value and significance in the history of Chinese bird-and-flower paintings.However,whether alive or dead,Huayan was not very famous no matter in the reputation or the effects of his paintings.About this,there must be a certain reason,which is the subject of the paper discussed.In the first chapter,the paper specially analyzed the connotation and the significance of Huayan's Ligou thought.The author thought,as the pursuit of life,Ligou thought was not only an aspiration for being far from the madding crowd,but also a mental comfort in the face of the reality,as well as a persistent stick to the ideal,which was the reason that we could see the taste and heart sustenance of the literati painting from his paintings created in the condition of meeting the demand of the market for survival.With the existence of the literati painters sticking to the ideals like Huayan,the tradition of the literati painting could be inherited,which was the deepest meaning of Huayan's Ligou thought.In the second chapter,the paper focused on the discuss of the relations between Huayan's poems,paintings and Ligou thought.The author thought,Huayan tried his best to show the pursuit of the literators' taste no matter in the bird-and-flower paintings,beauty paintings,Zhongkui paintings and others which were hard to embody the taste of the literati painting,or in the hermit paintings,literators'gathering paintings and landscape paintings with literators'tastes.In Huayan's painting works,we can find the trace of Ligou thought everywhere,including the choose of painting language,the background depicting,the creation of artistic conception and the function conversion.In the third chapter,the paper mainly analyzed the position of Huayan in the painting industry of Yangzhou in Yongzheng and Qianlong period,as well as the reasons.The painting industry of Yangzhou was full of competitions and opportunities,Huayan's individual character and his sticking to Ligou thought made his works neither personalized very much like Zhengxie nor worldly like Huangshen,which was the main reason that his fame was not great in Yangzhou and later generations.Obviously,no matter Huayan's painting characteristics or his ordinary fame was closely related to his Ligou thought.
