| After the fifth digital revolution, digital art has been filtering in the place of public arts including both virtual and real arts. This dissertation takes the "place" quality of digital public art as the study object, using the approach of Schultz’s theorizing "place" to research into the public digital art’s space quality. Since the digital art has changed the original time and space relation, the public art’s style and the quality of space has been reversed. The space quality of digital public art takes its distinguished nature. This dissertation lays out the exploration in three parts:The first part deals with the heterogeneous nature of the digital space, and mixed human experience in the space. First, it is the distinguished nature of "space" that differ the public digital art from the traditional public art. Second, the digital art filters into the public arts’ space, making space take the quality of heterogeneity. Third, the heterogeneous space, being both real and virtual, present and absent, gives human an indulged experience in the parallel, overlapped, mixture of the space. The second part gives an analysis of the tension in the digital place, exploring the phenomenon of the "air tension" On the one hand, it is through the tension of the air that the public digital art enjoys the power of express i ng and affecting the audience. On the other hand, it is assumed that the phenomenon of air tension takes place in the space of the public digital art. The air tension isn’t only from the digital art itself, but from the tension of the joint power of different types of arts, and the physical air tension is composed of different substances. The next important exploration classifies the phenomenon of air tension into the field of psychology, arguing that the psychological space is ontologically identical to the space of the public digital art.The third part, based on the theory of Walter Benjamin’s theory of "aura", analyzes the evolution of the aesthetics of the public digital art’s space. The technology of computer greatly changes the foundation of traditional media art, and makes the new digital art possible. Thus the "aura " traditionally crowning the public art shifts to the public digital art, making both the digital art and its vessel---the "space " new aesthetic objects. The nature of the shifting of "aura" is the shifting of the ways of aesthetics. As the summary, the theory of the public digital art’s place not only breaks the aesthetic pattern of the traditional art, but also establishes the new direction into which the aesthetics of art is developing. This new aesthetic direction is the source of the innovation of the public digital art, and the new driving force to build new aesthetic bonds. |
