Superblock has a long history and widespread existence in Chinese cities, and has the potential to build an intensive city. Therefore, the research on superblock morphology is of great value for the intensive development of the stock land. From the urban spacial framework of superblock form to the ultimate goal of intensive construction, one of the most important links lies in the coordinated design between road system and functional layout, including how to organize functional layout rationally through road system, how to improve service efficiency of road system through functional layout, and how to coordinate and promote each other. This paper takes "simple tissue" as the unit of recognizing urban morphology, takes into account the two systems of road and function, and forms the perspective of mixed-use construction explores the method of recognizing and designing relating the two system together. This paper follows the research process of theoretical analysis, creating quantitative cognitive tools, using quantitative tools for empirical analysis, and applying analysis conclusions to form urban design schemes.First of all,the value basis, urban design methodology and technical methods of this paper is established respectively from three aspects: intensive block,mixed-use concept and road network analysis tools.the new quantitative cognition method is established according to the order of urban cognition perspective, model building principle, abstract method of form elements and calculation formula of abstracted objects. This quantitative cognitive tool applies the formula of structural centrality in graph theory. The calculation includes two aspects:the hierarchical structure characteristic from the boundary to the interior as the unique attribute of the superblock, and configurational structure characteristic of internal roads as universal attributes of blocks. In the empirical study,40 super blocks are selected, and the POI(Point of Interest)data provided by the online map API platform are collected. The analysis of the samples includes three types of objects: road, function, and superblock. The empirical analysis is carried out from two perspectives: objective mathematical analysis and subjective evaluation and cause analysis. Finally, the conclusion of the empirical analysis is applied to urban design scheme to upgrade an existing superblock through more compact and diversified functional mixed-use space. The design proves that the analysis conclusion is effective and feasible. This Paper belongs to the category of urban morphology. The academic significance of this paper is to combine the methods of multi schools in urban morphology,to provide a way to express the functional spatial layout by associating the road with the function, making up for the lack of the combination of quantity and form in the traditional methods of data statistics and graphic expression, and providing a new tool for the mixed-use space cognition combining the construction quantity with the spatial characteristics. The practical significance of this paper lies in the revision of the blind worship of the imported model of small block and dense road network plan pattern.Instead,it explores the potential of space optimization in the form of superblocks, which widely exists and has strong local adaptability in China. The scientific cognition of the relationship between the street structure and the functional layout and the urban design based on it can effectively promote the urban space efficiency of the mixed-use construction, thus contributing to the intensive development of urban space and the improvement of the quality of residential environment. The text of the paper is about 96,000 words, with 100 figures and 4 charts.
