Soundscape focuses on the interaction between sound, environment, and people. It is defined as ‘the sound environment that an individual or group perceives, experiences,or understands in a particular scenario.' Soundscape research focuses on auditory perception and interpretation, and it is the direction to improve the quality of urban acoustic environment in the future to optimise the acoustic environment from the dimension of soundscape creation. In recent years, the health benefits of soundscape have become the international research hot in the field of soundscape. In response to the national strategy of ‘Healthy China' and the development of health industry, urban parks and the other green space systems area the important urban restorative environment. They provide a living space and ecological environment for recreation and recreation for the public, whihc are the important research areas of human settlements field, currently.Previous studies confirmed that a good sound environment is beneficial for human physiological and mental health, and urban parks with diverse soundscape characteristics are important places to relieve the physical and mental stress of urban residents. Therefore,it is necessary theoretical support for identifying the soundscape characteristics of urban parks, promoting the health benefits of urban parks by soundscape, and optimising the practice of urban restorative environment.Because of the complexity and particularity of topographical conditions and spatial structure, mourtianous urban parks have not carried out systematic soundscape research, nor have they reached the level of health benefit research. In order to realise the dual goal of improving the human settlements and promoting human health in mountainous cities, this study focuses on mountainous urban parks, and take the exploration of ‘soundsacpe characteristics' and ‘soundscape health benefits' of mountainous urban parks as the starting point for the logical construction of scientific problems. Therefore, this thesis pass through by three key questions in the whole text: 1)how to recognise and evaluate the sound characteristics of mountainous urban parks,2)how to excavate and condense the health benefits of mountainous urban parks, and 3)how to design and optimize the sound landscape of mountainous urban parks. The research contents of this thesis are as follows:Firstly, the cognition and evaluation of the soundscape characteristics of mountain urban parks is carried out from two levels: the current situation of mountain urban parks and the selection of typical case parks, and the evaluation of the soundscape characteristics of case parks.Through the field investigation, the characteristics and distribution of mountainous urban parks are sorted out.Typical case mountainous urban parks are selected based on the topography, landscape composition, spatial form, and functional layout of mountainous urban parks. The objective acoustic environment measurement and soundscape perception evaluation of mountainous urban parks are carried out by the method of in situ soundwalking study, analysing the soundscape characteristics of different terrain conditions and spatial types.Secondly, the excavation and condensation of the health benefits of soundscape in mountainous urban parks were carried out from three experimental studies.Among them,Experiment I ‘Comparative Study of On-site and Laboratory Soundscape Experience',through the discussion of the difference of human EEG indicators in the park site and laboratory soundscape experience, considering the audio-visual interaction, and deriving a laboratory visual reproduction method that is closer to the on-site experience.Experiment II ‘Stress Recovery Time Study of Laboratory Sound Landscape Experience' compares the laboratory soundscape experience of various scenarios, the degree of physiological stress recovery of the human body, and determines the time of soundscape experience suitable for stress recovery.Experiment III ‘Health Benefit Factor Study of Sound Landscape' studies the stress recovery degree of soundscape in mourtianous urban parks from the perspective of physiological and psychological multi-indicators,and discusses the health benefit factor of soundscape.Thirdly, the design and optimisation of the soundscape of mountains urban parks are carried out from two aspects: the optimisation of spatial soundscape and the audio-visual adaptability design of typical scenarios in case parks.According to the acoustic characteristic evaluation and experimental results, based on objective acoustic environment and acoustic scenario perception evaluation index, the soundscape design strategy of different spatial in mountain urban park platform, slope and valley is summarized from the aspects of functional activity and design elements.Through the study of audio-visual adaptability design of typical scenarios in case parks, the soundscape optimisation strategy of mountain urban parks based on audio-visual interaction is proposed. In this paper,‘Soundscape characteristics and its health benefits of mountainous urban parks' has made innovative achievements in the research contents, research methods and research applications of soundscape. For research contents,it has identified the urban spatial soundscape characteristics limited by mountainous terrain, revealed the composition mechanism of its soundscape characteristics, and enriched the compositional content of the spatial quality evaluation of mountain urban parks. For research methods, this thesis compared the differences in human physiological responses between in situ and laboratory soundscape experience, explored the in situ soundscape characteristic investigation and laboratory stress recovery research methods,as well as the combination of psychological self-evaluation and physiological testing methods. For research applications, this thesis initially established soundscape optimisation strategies for different spatial types of mountainous urban parks, providing scientific theoretical support and practical basis for improving the quality of human settlements in mountainous cities.
