The period of the Republic of China is an important stage in the development of Chinese furniture.During the period of the Republic of China,Tianjin had a unique position in its history and cultural influence.Influenced by the overlapping and blending of multi-cultures,Tianjin style furniture,which appeared in Tianjin during the period of the Republic of China,has the characteristics of times and regions,and highlights the characteristics of compatibility,comfort and practicality.It has become an indispensable part of the history of Chinese furniture.This paper takes Tianjin style furniture as the research object,through comprehensive and systematic data collection and collation,studies and analyzes the typical characteristics,design background and "advantage" and "disadvantage" of Tianjin style furniture,so as to expand the research scope of traditional furniture and regional furniture while salvaging protection and inheritance of cultural heritage.It adds a new component to the theoretical system of furniture design.This paper innovatively uses the design criticism theory as the main research method,comprehensively uses the investigation interview,the case analysis,the comparative study and so on other ways,carries on the analysis to the Tianjin style furniture research present situation,the design criticism system construction,the design criticism subject and object element,builds conforms to the Tianjin style furniture design criticism paradigm,and uses it to guide the criticism practice,finally obtains the following research results:(1)Form the salvage protection achievements of Tianjin style furniture.During the period of the Republic of China in Tianjin,Chinese and foreign cultures had a fierce and rapid collision.Due to the unique geographical,historical,cultural,economic,social and other factors,whether it is the overlap of Chinese and foreign mix,or the blend of Chinese and Western,all formed a multi-cultural gathering of modern Chinese cultural heritage-Tianjin style furniture.This paper collects 1096 photos of Tianjin style furniture,refines 270 photos,measures and draws 56 pieces of furniture,and strives to accurately show the original appearance of Tianjin style furniture.(2)Construct the design criticism system of Tianjin style furniture.On the basis of design criticism and other related theories,the subject and object elements of the design criticism of Tianjin style furniture are clarified.Among them,the subject of criticism is composed of public users and professional critics,and the object is divided into external factors such as geographical environment,historical conditions,political status,social culture,architectural style,interior layout and internal factors such as furniture type,shape decoration,structural technology and material function.Through the re-combination of the elements of subject and object,five paradigms of design criticism of Tianjin style furniture are formed,namely,cultural,social,aesthetic,economic and ecological criticism paradigms.(3)Use the design criticism system of Tianjin Style furniture to guide practice.This paper analyzes the subject,object and paradigm of design criticism of Tianjin style furniture,and carries out criticism practice by using the paradigm of design criticism of Tianjin furniture Style according to the requirements of contemporary furniture design.One is to criticize ten pieces of typical Tianjin style furniture,and the other is to compare with Shanghai style furniture.The ten "advantage" of Tianjin style furniture are bright and smooth,delicate and generous,simple and practical,simple and fast,continuation and inheritance,popular,comfortable and comfortable,inclusive,innovation and change,natural and environmental protection;the five "disadvantage" are rigid and rough,political constraints,loss of form and spirit,cost loss,market vacancy.Through the evaluation analysis and value judgment of the Tianjin Style furniture,the following conclusions are drawn: influenced by the concession region,political environment,market culture and other factors,the style of the Tianjin furniture Style are diversified,and the main materials are teak and camphor.Mixed use of rose-camphorwood is a unique way of using materials in Tianjin Style furniture,its design techniques continue and inherit the traditional craft,often appear door,horizontal,panel,split and other furniture structures,with beautiful simplicity,inclusive,comfortable and practical,simple environmental protection and other characteristics.However,to a certain extent,the traditional concept restricts the development process and the speed of integration of Tianjin style furniture,which is manifested in the lack of flexible and gentle shape,the serious loss of cultural costs,the weak production and circulation capacity and the level of industrialization.This paper systematically explains the design criticism theoretical system of Tianjin Syele furniture,from the aesthetic perspective of furniture itself,deeply excavates the economic,cultural,social,political and other factors behind the formation of Tianjin Style furniture,so as to provide a scientific reference for guiding contemporary furniture design,carrying out furniture criticism practice,enriching furniture design theory and promoting furniture professional development.
