This dissertation aimed at solving several challenging problems of modeling large multi-axial elastic deformation behaviors of soft solids,including characterization of multi-axial large deformations,the strong coupling problem of different deformation models,the model applicability,compressibility,simulation of failure,a unified approach to treating effects of different constituents on deformation features,and so on.New expressions and new methods are put forward to obtain new systematic results for dealing with these problems.The main content is composed of the following aspects: Representing the elastic potential in terms of the logarithmic strain tensor for the purpose of deriving a direct gradient relation between Cauchy stress and logarithmic strain elastic potential;Introducing the matching invariants and the bridging invariants;Establishing new interpolation procedures based on such invariants;Deriving responses for several benchmark tests;Obtaining mutually independent shape functions for matching experimental data given for such tests;Ensuring broad applicability for various kinds of soft solids;Introducing new logarithmic invariants toward characterizing the compressible effect;Presenting new shape function for simulating deformation effects over the entire deformation range up to failure;Finally,obtaining a new and unified elastic potential for simulating the same kind of material with different constituent contents.
