Abstract/Summary:
This quantitative research study investigated the relationship between organizational learning and job satisfaction within the Federal sector and private sector financial services industry -- finance, banking, insurance, securities and the stock market. Participants include a sample of 181 professionals from the private sector financial services industry and 212,184 participants from the Federal sector. Regression and proportions analyses were used to detect amount of shared variance and strength of relationship between the variables of interest- organizational learning and job satisfaction. Based on results from the analysis, there was a significant positive relationship between organizational learning and job satisfaction; R = .764, R2 = .584, F (1, 179) = 251.744, p < .001 (two-tailed). The investigation found that for every one unit increase in organizational learning, job satisfaction increases by .965. R-squared (.584) suggests that 58.4 percent of the reason job satisfaction varies was due to organizational learning. The need to provide outstanding services to the public as well as to customers and to sustain the competitive advantage of an organization depends largely on how knowledgeable and satisfied individual employees are. Management must ensure employees are properly trained and educated in order to carry out their daily roles and responsibilities. In providing employees with the appropriate training and education to carry out their daily responsibilities, they must be empowered and motivated. The most innovative employee in every organization today is the one well trained and satisfied.
