Abstract/Summary:
This study examined perceived versus observed benefits of Single Sign-On (SSO) in the healthcare vertical. In particular, it looked at three groups within the organizations. Physicians, nurses, and IT helpdesk staff. The quantitative study on a broad sense, attempted to research pre-existing data collected from organizations that had implemented SSO technology in their respective healthcare environments. The research attempted to answer the following four questions. "Was there significance in productivity before and after SSO implementation among physicians, nursing staff, and IT helpdesk staff?" Results indicated that there was a significant change in productivity amongst the three staff groups post SSO implementation. Second, "Was there significance in productivity before and after SSO implementation among IT helpdesk staff?" Results indicated that yes, there was significant positive difference in productivity post SSO implementation among IT helpdesk staff. Third, "Was there significance in productivity before and after SSO implementation among nursing staff?" Research showed that there was no statistical significance in productivity post SSO implementation among nursing staff. Fourth, "Was there significance in productivity before and after SSO implementation among physicians?" Results indicated that there was a significant positive change in productivity post SSO implementation. This research helps healthcare organizations quantitatively consider how productivity will be affected by this particular technology amongst the different staff groups. Especially in an environment where technology increases every year. Future research that includes other areas besides productivity is recommended. Furthermore, future research can include other staff groups.
