A qualitative research study influence through leadership-motivating leadership styles for contract security officers

Abstract/Summary:
This exploratory research study involves motivational leadership styles in the contract security guard force. This qualitative, exploratory study involves contract security officers in the Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas area. Based off of experience and perceptions, the security officer participants identified charismatic leadership as the style most conducive for a motivating work environment. Only entry level officers and first level supervisors were asked to participate. A definition of contract security officers, their demographics, statistics, research method, collection of data, data analysis, and other relevant information is provided to show some of the challenges leaders in the career field face while tasked with defending some of the nation's most critical infrastructure.;Keywords: Qualitative, exploratory, security officers, national defense, leadership styles.
