Abstract/Summary:
Psychological Flexibility has been shown to correlate with a number of positive outcomes. However, the relationship between psychological flexibility and sexual satisfaction among committed couples is not known. The objective of this study is to ascertain whether there is significant covariance between psychological flexibility and levels of sexual satisfaction among committed couples. Participants were volunteers who filled out self-reports. Data from 63 adults was analyzed to determine if psychological flexibility accounted for variance in sexual satisfaction. Psychological flexibility (Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-II) and sexual satisfaction (Sexual Satisfaction Scale and The Global Measure of Sexual Satisfaction) were assessed. Results of analyses indicate that there is a positive correlation between psychological flexibility and sexual satisfaction and levels of psychological flexibility effectively predict sexual satisfaction, indicating that individuals with higher levels of psychological flexibility are likely to have higher levels of sexual satisfaction. Theoretical and practical implications are discussed.
