Abstract/Summary:
The study focuses on the spatial explorations ranging from two dimensional projects to three dimensional sculptures.;It investigates the timing of aspects of inventions and breakthroughs of twentieth century art which inform my spatial concerns.;The study refers also to other contemporary artists, in particular Stella and Youngerman, who find their roots in the innovations of the twentieth century, and who are re-addressing the past in order to arrive at amalgamations which express the new in geometric abstraction in the present post-modernist period.;The six projects developed for this study explore spatial effects that take place in two and three-dimensional works in which constant shifting takes place between illusionistic and realistic space.;Throughout the projects the geometric and biomorphic structures and shapes struggle to achieve a vital amalgamation.;Finally, unitary shapes liberated from the conventional rectangular and square formats are organized into sculptures, some in serial arrangements.
