Abstract/Summary:
The literature review in this doctoral project explores training school counselors are currently receiving, the impact on transgender youth in high school, and the microaggressions school counselors may manifest. It also provides empirical and theoretical support for additional training for school counselors regarding providing support specifically for transgender students. With the information reviewed in this doctoral project, school counselors may begin to recognize how transgender students aren't receiving the appropriate support required for them to remain in school. In order to ensure transgender students are receiving the appropriate support, this doctoral project includes product which consists of a series of workshops for school counselors and school psychologists to begin to recognize how they may unknowingly be alienating transgender students.
