KARL MARX'S CONCEPT OF CIVIL SOCIETY AND THE CONSIDERATION OF CAPITAL IN RELATION TO IT

The topic of the dissertation paper is "Karl Marx's Concept of Civil Society and the Consideration of Capital in Relation to it." The problem is to see how capital, in its determinations, is reflective of this concept.;The result of our consideration is the perception of Marx's concept of civil society in the form of a juridical phenomenon and the perception of his concept of capital in relation to this society as a particular expression of this phenomenon which at the same time, however, falsifies such an expression and thereby reduces it to a deceptive illusion. This entails the conclusion that while capital structurally posits its own death in this falsification, its ultimate practical sublation as a property-form remains problematical due to the deceptiveness of the same in the character of its quasi-juridical form.;The plan or structure of the study consists of a tripartite division of the subject-matter. We undertake, first of all, a preliminary discussion of G. W. F. Hegel's philosophy of objective spirit and the place of civil society in it. This discussion establishes the basic framework for Marx's concept of civil society as well as serves as the point of departure for his own categorization of this sphere. With this, we then go on, secondly, to consider Marx's concept of civil society as such, in particular the mode of economic interaction appearing on its surface as a system of exchange relations. This leads to the transition to the concept of capital. The third part then commences, whose purpose is to determine in a precise manner the nature of capital in Marx's analysis as a category of civil society and the function that capital itself plays therein. To this end the various moments of the latter are unfolded and explored.
