Abstract/Summary:
Deterioration of language functioning is often present in dementia, and assessment of language functioning is critical in the evaluation of suspected dementia. Reports show growth within the population of those who identified themselves as Hispanic or Latino and an increase in bilingualism in the United States. Despite significant demographic and cultural shifts, relatively few measures of language functioning for Spanish speakers are available for providers offering services to Hispanic and Latino populations. This study provides normative data for a Spanish translation of Stern and White's (2003) Neuropsychological Assessment Battery Naming Test and a suggested rearranged order of stimulus presentation according to frequency of correct responses provided by participants in this study.
