Abstract/Summary:
Sextupole nonlinearities are studied for high tune optics. A method is given for developing quadrupole and sextupole distributions which minimize the ill effects of sextupole resonances while suppressing energy dependence of lattice functions. The optics are studied both using simulations and experimentation. The experiments verify the simulation analysis. Colliding beam results show that the optimized optics can achieve a 0.03 tune shift at 5 mA per beam.
