| This work describes the analytical results of study of flexural members of moment resisting frames. Various approaches to model such elements are discussed, and the merits of each formulation are studied. In particular, a model which allows the spread of yielding to a finite length is developed, and its relative accuracy is assessed.; Theoretical formulations for this and other types of models are developed. The examples used range from an idealized prototype beam to a realistic three story low rise building. To gain further insight, both dynamic and static types of loading are employed in examples. Observations regarding the inelastic behavior of models are offered. Conclusions in respect to these results and their applicability to analysis of flexural steel frames are offered. |
