Abstract/Summary:
A unique combination of methods for the simulation of controller-structure interaction is developed from a first order viewpoint. These algorithms unify a structural finite element model, state estimator, actuator dynamics, and sensor dynamics into one linear system. It is shown that the stability of the numerical simulation is equivalent to the stability of the closed loop system.;Nested linked lists are used to exploit the sparsity of the system matrices. Algorithms are developed for sparse matrix algebra involving the addition, multiplication, and factorization of nested linked list matrices. A software package has been written which combines these ideas to simulate the reduced order model control of a structure.
