Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study is that through the research of poly-ferrocements, new applications for the concrete-polymer composites and ferrocement may be opened up. Despite ferrocement being a composite material having excellent toughness, crack control and impact resistance, it is easy to form cracks under small loads as well as having a problem with its durability because cement mortar has conventionally been used as a matrix. On the other hand, concrete-polymer composites are now used as popular construction materials because of their excellent strength, waterproofness and chemical resistance. However these concrete-polymer composites have lower deformability after first cracking.; The experimental research on the properties of polymer-ferrocements were carried out using various matrixes. What was studied were the mechanical properties of polymer-ferrocements using polymer-modified mortars, steel fiber polymer cement, carbon fiber reinforced cement, polymer mortar and polymer-impregnated mortar all as matrixes. A cost performance as well as the properties of polymer-ferrocements for building materials was also carried.; It was concluded that polymer-ferrocements which have been developed using the combination of concrete-polymer composites and ferrocement were expected to improve the deformation behavior of the concrete-polymer composites and the lower cracking load and durability of the ferrocement. Consequently the author concluded that polymer-ferrocements can be used for construction materials.
