| This dissertation is focused on ionization using unconventional solvents that are non-polar, viscous or aprotic. Together with careful experimental observations, manipulation of these solvents allows for better understanding of ionization mechanism and wider reach of analytical applications. It also brings about novel ionization phenomena for noble metals and produces nanoparticles when coupled with ion deposition. Gas phase ion molecule reactions with molecular nitrogen simulating Titan atmosphere condition, is also presented. |
