Abstract/Summary:
Poly(arylene ether ether ketone) system was modified with poly(arylene ether sulfone) to form a series of novel poly(arylene ether ether ketone) and poly(arylene ether sulfone) copolymers via polycondensation reactions. A wide variety of synthetic techniques were utilized to prepare novel statistical, chain extended (kinked), segmented and well defined segmented copolymers. It was found that the thermal behavior of segmented copolymer was affected by the type and the sequential length of the poly(arylene ether sulfone) segment, in addition to the level of poly(arylene ether ether ketone) content. The segmented copolymer showed a difference between glass transition temperature and melting point of about 146;Lightly cross-linked poly(arylene ether ether ketone-ketimine) copolymers were synthesized in an effort to modify polyetheretherketone system.;A series of liquid crystal side chain polymers were prepared via hydrosilylation reaction of allylic mesogens with Si-H containing polydimethylsiloxane oligomers. (Abstract shortened with permission of author.);Two types of deuterated polyetheretherketone were synthesized in diphenylsulfone using potassium carbonate as base. These deuterated polyetheretherketones also showed the same thermal behavior as hydrogenous polyetheretherketone.
