Abstract/Summary:
An AC impedance study was made of single crystal n-MoS(,2) in contact with aqueous electrolyte solutions containing potassium bromide. Several electrical equivalent circuits are considered as suitable models of the impedance of this electrode in the frequency range from 10 kHz to 0.10 Hz. Search routines are described which are capable of finding stable and meaningful best fits of these models to the experimental data. In order to obtain a frequency independent Mott-Schottky plot, it was necessary to include a circuit element representing a frequency dependent surface state impedance. The flatband potential for the n-MoS(,2) semiconductor/KBr electrolyte system is estimated to be -0.04 V vs SCE.
