The study of the properties of the Higgs boson may hold the key to some of the puzzles still remaining in the theory of fundamental particles. The data used in this work was collected in proton-proton collisions corresponding to integrated luminosities of 4.6 fb-1 and 20.3 fb-1 at center-of-mass energies of √ s = 7TeV and √ s = 8TeV, respectively, recorded with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. Events in this work are classified in several categories, beginning with the inclusive analysis in the decay channel H → ZZ(*) → ℓ+ℓ-ℓ' +ℓ'-, where ℓ,ℓ' = e or micro, and based on production mechanism signatures. This event classification allows us to separately extract the couplings of the newly observed Higgs boson with Standard Models fermions and vector bosons, probing the properties of the new particle and exploring the possibility of contributions due to new physics. |
