Abstract/Summary:
The Rhetoric of Reform is an examination of the methods used by different writers in presenting their arguments concerning the reform of public education in the United States. Featured in this discussion are such authors as William J. Bennett, E. D. Hirsch, Susan Ohanian, and Milton J. Friedman. It is an examination of technique rather than content. The subject matter under discussion is the manner in which a given argument is advanced rather than the merits (or lack thereof) of any particular argument.
