Abstract/Summary:
In this dissertation a full wave simulation using mode matching techniques and modeling of several generic resonant and transmission structures is implemented in the design of filters and multiplexers. The rigorous modal analysis is performed on general cylindrical objects in rectangular waveguides, which represent the key components of combline and double inductive post filters, on stripline to ridge waveguide transitions which are implemented in multilayers applications. The coupling mechanism of different coupling structures in combline filters is investigated. The coupling in combline filters includes the one between non-adjacent cavities and between adjacent, cavities in the presence of other cavities. Full wave analysis of stripline transition to ridge waveguide bandpass filters is introduced. A compact, small size, stripline tapped-in ridge waveguide filter is proposed for multilayer applications. A canonical elliptic ridge waveguide filter is presented, modeled and full wave optimized. Full wave design of double inductive post filters and their implementation as filter channelizers in manifold multiplexer for satellite applications is presented. Full wave optimization is carried out to provide the diplexer's optimum response.
