Abstract/Summary:
During the last few decades, many new and innovative technologies and theories were theorized and implemented in the field of computer science. As a result, the expectations for development of effective and efficient computer-supported applications are high in every other field. At the present time, however, it is not easy to find effective programs. The difficulty in producing these applications lies in the fact that a robust understanding of both field of computer science and the field, which computer technologies are applied, is required.; This research focuses mainly on how several computer technologies can be applied to create an effective application. This research chooses the education field as a test field. For this purpose, at first, various aspects of computer technologies such as multimedia, virtual reality, and the Internet are analyzed for creating an effective teaching and learning environment. This analysis will be contribute to solve the problems of misuse and/or overuse of computer technologies in developing educational applications. In conjunction with the main purpose, this research also presents a new educational theory that will explain the new educational environments generated by extensive use of computer technologies. It provides a clear explanation of situations, which cannot be explained by any of the current educational theories. Further, this research will present various automated mapping techniques which show how the analyzed computer technologies fit into the various educational situations. In addition, this research will show the actual learning paradigms for learning statistics and mathematics, which are built through the use of presented mapping techniques and new educational theory.
