Abstract/Summary:
This qualitative study was designed to ascertain how three high-performing school business partnerships were implemented and sustained. This research will serve as a guide to other state departments of education and school districts that are interested in an effective, successful partnership.; The researcher studied three South Carolina schools—one at each grade level—Bradley Elementary (Image Point), Laurens Middle (Michelin) and Darlington High (Wellman). The state high-performance Partnership Staff identified the schools that were selected to participate based on their success in their respective school-business partnerships. All three met the criteria for high-need schools, according to the state guidelines outlined in the South Carolina Education Accountability Act.; This study suggests that there are key factors that contribute to school-business partnerships being successful. The findings suggest that implementation of a high-performance partnership team, communication, commitment, dedication, short and long range planning and leadership were key factors in these three particular partnerships. There do not appear to be significant differences in the implementation or sustaining strategies used in any of the three levels.
