Abstract/Summary:
This study examines a scholarship program at a community college that seeks to increase the number of African American students earning a Bachelor's degree in engineering. The scholarship program does more than provide students with money to cover their college tuition and fees. This program also provides students with engineering mentors, academic support, and peer support. This study revealed that several of the scholarship program components affected students' decisions to persist toward engineering degrees.
