This final document addresses the need of empowering the lay leaders of the church by increasing their biblical and theological understanding to do social ministry. Twelve weeks of instruction in Introduction to Basic Bible was experienced to prepare the participants to enter into eight-weeks of instruction. A survey interview was administered to measure their growth. The results of the model were evaluated and showed that the participants grew in their understanding of the church's role and responsibility in working in concert with other local community concerned groups to alleviate the ills in the North Amityville community.
