Abstract/Summary:
Like Christian leaders in many places, Christian leaders in Peru report a lack of faithful prayer for the people for whom they are responsible. This lack of faithful prayer stands in strong contrast with the important role that faithful intercessory prayer had in the life of Old Testament leaders, Christ, and the Apostles. This project analyzed the content and frequency of their intercession, with a particular focus on the prayers of the Apostle Paul Intercession was a priority in Paul's ministry and his instruction and example show that constant intercession is an indispensable part of ministry.;The researchable question was: "Will Christian leaders who are instructed in the value and practice of intercessory prayer pray more faithfully for their churches?" The strategy for the project was the teaching of a course module about Pauline intercession, intended to increase the faithfulness in intercession of a group of theological students. With the use of pre-course and post-course questionnaires, statistically significant modification was demonstrated for the intercession of a group of students. This suggests that intercessory prayer is a skill that can be taught and learned, and that the teaching led to more faithful prayer.;The lack of faithful prayer seemed to be caused by practical as well as theological reasons so a broad treatment was proposed. An educational response that combined cognitive, affective, and psychomotor domains of learning was developed to provide practical instruction in intercession.
