| We study the Cauchy initial value problem for metric connections over a Lorentz four-manifold which are Yang-Mills. By suitable choice of harmonic gauge, these equations are cast as a quasi-linear hyperbolic system. This system consists essentially of the Yang-Mills equations, together with an auxiliary wave equation propagating the frame. Short term existence for the equations is then established in appropriate function spaces. |
