Abstract/Summary:
Mo/C and Mo/TiO;The surface and bulk structure of Mo/C catalysts were examined by core and valence band X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) measurements, time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry (TOF-SIMS), X-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). XRD, XAS, and XPS results indicated the presence of a highly dispersed monolayer-like Mo phase. TOF-SIMS, XAS, and XPS valence band measurements showed that the catalysts contain octahedrally coordinated polymeric Mo species at all loadings. This result was consistent with the predicted speciation based on the Mo solution chemistry and the point of zero charge of the catalysts.;The distribution of Mo oxidation states in reduced Mo/TiO;A comparison of the catalytic activity for benzene hydrogenation and the distribution of oxidation states indicated that Mo oxidation states ;Surface coverage measurements were carried out on a series of oxidic Mo/TiO...
