The deposition of superconducting Bi-Sr-Ca-Cu-O thin films has been investigated using metalorganic chemical vapor deposition. For this purpose, a low pressure growth system was designed and built. Using the precursors, triphenyl bismuth, copper acetylacetonate, strontium hexafluoroacetylacetonate tetraglyme, and calcium hexafluoroacetylacetonate tetraglyme, superconducting epitaxial ;;A method for tailoring the electronic properties of the films through the substitution of Y for Ca was also developed, using yttrium dipivaloylmethanate as the source.
