Abstract/Summary:
A detailed analysis of the CP-violating form factors of the W-boson is performed in two theories, the two-Higgs-doublet model and the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model.; In chapter 2 we study the electric dipole moment (EDM) of the W-boson in the two-Higgs-doublet model. There are no contributions at the one-loop level and therefore the calculations are performed at two-loops, with all relevant Feynman diagrams included. It is shown that the W-EDM could be as large as 10{dollar}sp{lcub}-21{rcub}{dollar}-10{dollar}sp{lcub}-20{rcub} e{dollar} cm, for reasonable values of the parameters involved. The computations were facilitated by the use of symbolic manipulation programs written in Mathematica with the express purpose of handling Dirac gamma matrices and their traces and finding algebraically the Feynman parametrization of momentum integrals. These programs are listed in Appendix B. The results correct and extend previous studies that have appeared in the literature (He and McKellar 1990; Chang, Keung and Liu 1991; Vendramin 1993).; In chapter 3 we study other CP-violating form factors of the W-boson, but now this is done for general values of the momentum transfer squared {dollar}qsp2{dollar} for {dollar}WWgamma{dollar} and WWZ vertices. All pertinent one-loop diagrams are examined in the context of the two-Higgs-doublet model and the minimal supersymmetric extension of the Standard Model. Where this work overlaps with previous studies, we find partial agreement (He, Ma and McKellar 1993; Vendramin 1992). In general, the values found are too small to be measurable at accelerators with the exception of the P-odd, T-odd {dollar}WWgamma{dollar} form factor in supersymmetry which, for some values of {dollar}qsp2,{dollar} may reach the 10{dollar}sp{lcub}-2{rcub}{dollar} level. This may be detectable in the near future at some proposed colliders, or provide constraints on the parameters of the theory.
