Abstract/Summary:
Using the ϒ → η + X data measured by CLEO, we obtain constraints on the η- g*-g form factor. Our results indicate that only a rapidly falling form factor, consistent with perturbative QCD, is not ruled out. Consequently, within the Standard Model, the b s(g* → gη) mode should only contribute O(10−5 ) to the B → η Xs branching ratio for pη > 2.0 GeV. Other contributions to B → ηXs are summarized. Our constraint implies that a theoretical explanation for the large rate observed for ( B → ηXs) (pη > 2.0 GeV) is still lacking within the Standard Model, suggesting that the intervention of New Physics may be required.
