| Understanding citizens' adoption of electronic-government (e-government) is an important topic, as the use of e-government has become an integral part of governance. Success of such initiatives depends largely on the efficient use of e-government services. The unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model has provided a theoretical foundation for studying the adoption of e-services generally. At present, the UTAUT model does not provide for the variable of perceived trust, which this study believes to represent a significant limitation of the model. This study explores the integration of trust into UTAUT in an attempt to investigate how the revised model might better explain the citizens' acceptance and adoption of e-government services. Therefore, in this quantitative, correlational survey study, data was obtained from a sample of a United States population. The research results, based on the hypotheses, indicated statistically significant positive relationship between perceived trust in e-government and behavioral intention to use e-government services, on one hand, and between perceived trust in the government and behavioral intention to use e-government services on the other. Based on the findings, the study concluded that there was significant, positive relationship between perceived trust and intention to use e-government services. Additionally, the study established that trust, gender, age, and experience significantly moderate the impact of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, and the social influence on intention to use e-government services, though to different degrees. |
