An investigation of the factors preferred by adults in fitness clubs in Central Taiwan (China)

Abstract/Summary:
This research explored the differences between the demographic characteristics of fitness club members (gender, age, income, educational level, and profession information) and participation, motivation, and satisfaction. The purposive sample for the study included 261 adult members of eight fitness clubs in Central Taiwan. Results of the chi-square test, one-way ANOVA, and Tukey (HSD) analyses showed significant differences among income level and membership durations; educational level and satisfaction of staff reputation, satisfaction of hardware and facilities, satisfaction of information and merchandise, and satisfaction of overall influence; workout frequency per week and motivation of needs of health; workout time and motivation of needs of health; and experience at other health clubs and motivation of social needs.
