A qualitative study was utilized to explore what it means to live as an introvert in a world dominated by extraverts. Research suggests introverts are different than their extraverted counterparts and tend to be less communicative and socially outgoing than is common. At times, the differences are thought to create misunderstandings. This study provided an opportunity to understand introverts better, their perceptions of self, their experiences and the complexities of introversion. By examining the lives of introverts and giving voice to their feelings this study helped demystify notions and opinions held by managers, educators, and others. A phenomenological study was conducted to hear the introvert's voice and examine their experiences to determine what value they contribute to society. The study included four men and four women identified as introverts. Through participant interviews, this phenomenological study examined their lives, social encounters, strengths, weaknesses, and what it means to live as an introvert.
