Abstract/Summary:
The purpose of this study is to explore the lived experiences of practicing physical education teachers on the integration of technology in a physical education. This study arose from my current experiences as a physical educator and the current inculcation of technology in education and more specifically physical education. As a current physical educator I understand the ever-changing evolution of technology and through this exploration will be able to understand the situations of other current physical educators and their lived experiences with technology in physical education. To better understand the physical education teachers' lived experiences, I have chosen to use the most appropriate genre in qualitative and phenomenological research to gain the best understanding of their experiences.;The study's purpose was to answer the question: What are the lived experiences of current physical education teachers on the integration of technology in physical education?;Throughout the conversation and the process of these physical education teachers' journey in best practices they do have hope that integration will be a standard in the future. They also do believe that it might not be a fast process but it will hopefully be accepted more. I did learn that most of the participants' internal belief of integration is strong, and even though there is some hesitation, most do integrate technology at some point and hope other hesitant PE teachers will also be willing to learn and incorporate by seeing it can be done.;Through my lived experiences I reflect on their meaning by looking back, looking at current experiences and what I hope for the future of physical education and technology. I contend that overall these struggles are persistent with the inferiority complex that physical education teachers do struggle with daily. In all the information through teaching and modeling of the benefits of technology integration will help with those who are quite not sure of its importance. Providing the proper training will also help in the spirit of learning and rekindle the passion to learn new things and incorporate them into their best practices.
