| This dissertation mainly investigate the host-guest chemistry in different supramolecular systems using nitroxide as spin probes. Two topics in supramolecular chemistry are involved in this dissertation: (a) self-assembled hexameric molecular capsules and (b) cucurbituril complexes. In addition to this, the author also describes a new M4L6 tetrahedral metal-organic cage formed by sulfate-templated self-assembly. The first chapter in this dissertation gives a brief introduction to supramolecular chemistry. The second chapter describes the EPR and NMR investigation on the interactions of nitroxide probes with resorcin[4]arene molecular capsules. Four chapters of this dissertation deal with the complexation behavior of cucurbit[n]urils (n = 7,8) with different ferrocene and cobaltocenium nitroxide derivatives. The last chapter describes the preparation and characterization of a M4L6 tetrahedral molecular cage formed by both sulfate-templated and subcomponent self-assembly. |
