In this dissertation the properties of advanced optical alloys are studied. The properties of UV compatible MgxZn 1-xO and ZnSxO1-x flexible films are reported for the first time. The suppression of photoluminescence by Cu2+ incorporation is examined and utilized to study the properties of the crystal potential under high pressures. It is found that the incorporation of Mg into the ZnO lattice produces a heretofore unreported anharmonic behavior in the LO phonons which becomes more pronounced with applied pressure. |
