Abstract/Summary:
Several studies have been done on leadership; however, there is a lack of literature regarding the leadership skills of supervisors in the human service field. Thus, this dissertation examines the relationships of three leadership behaviors (personal support, goal achievement, and work facilitation) to the educational and professional backgrounds of supervisors in the human service field. The quantitative research was conducted in two human service organizations in South-Central Wisconsin using the Leadership - Michigan Organizational Assessment. The results of the study show that there is a significant relationship between supervisors with an educational or professional background in human service and the leadership skill of personal support.
